Acme Women’s Health
Acme Women’s Health (AWH) developed a device which allows physicians to do a more thorough inspection of the fallopian tubes, allowing them to better detect the cancerous cells which lead to ovarian cancer. This can go a long way to addressing the fifth largest cause of cancer in women. We did not invest.
- Outcome: In year five, a large heath care company acquired Acme in a deal worth up to $275M – $150MM upfront plus further payments against future clinical results and sales milestones.
- Learning: What a mistake. We did not believe that the CEO here had the experience to bring this technology to market and we did not believe the FDA would be so supportive in pushing this device through the process so quickly.
